Silver letter opener with ebony and coral by goldsmith Fons Reggers, Amsterdam, circa 1923-1925. The silver is lightly hammered near the setting of the blood coral (Alloy 0.835). The firm Gebr. Reggers was founded in 1919 by two brothers Fons and Rein Reggers who came from a long lineage of goldsmiths. They specialized in silver jewelry with precious and semi-precious gems, as well as with red coral, and diverse silver utensils. Fons Reggers (1886-1962) was responsible for the designs and execution. During the 1920's he created strong Art Deco and Amsterdam School designs.
