Bronze Art Deco portrait of Darja Collin (Amsterdam 1902- Florence, 1967). A famous ballet dancer and actress, famous during the roaring twenties; not only because of her star appeal and talent, but also because of her tumultuous marriage to writer JJ Slauerhoff and her numerous affairs. Depicted and described in the book Cris Agterberg sculptor and decorative artist by M. Brouwer and Joep Hafmans (image 78, text page 40). Cris Agterberg is inspired by the sculptor Theo Vos who portrayed Gertrud Leistikov, also a famous dancer at the time. The hairstyle and her mysteriously averted gaze have a typical Egyptian character.
