Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik, Ceramic lamp socket with female figure and leaves, ca. 1960

Beautiful ceramic lamp socket designed by Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik in approximately 1960. The lamp socket has a representation of a female figure with leaves against a blue background. The background is carved in with vertical lines which results in a light texture. The outline of the figures are also carved in. Marian Zawadzki started at Tilgmans Keramik in 1953, as a Polish refugee. He introduced a carved in 'sgraffito' background, something that quickly became associated with Tilgmans Keramik.
