This huge Amsterdam School buffet is part of a unique set of ten furniture pieces, designed by Michel de Klerk in 1916. Until recently there were only three dining room ensembles by world famous Dutch architect Michel De Klerk known to be preserved; two are in museum collections, namely the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami. However, the dining room set of which this buffet is part of is the most complete set preserved, which makes it extremely valuable and special. This unique set consists of ten furniture pieces of excellent quality: a table, four chairs, two armchairs, buffet, sideboard and serving table. It was previously privately owned. Michel De Klerk (Amsterdam 1884-1923) was one of the founding architects of the movement Amsterdam School, related to the Expressionist style. Of his many outstanding designs, very few have actually been built. One of his finest completed buildings is 'Het Schip' (The Ship) in the Amsterdam district of Spaarndammerbuurt.
