Wooden bookcase with batik decoration, designed by Louis Bogtman, executed by Kunstnijverheidsatelier Bogtman in Hilversum in the 1920s. In the 1920s, the Bogtman family's workshop, founded by Cornelis Bogtman, the father of Louis, became known for its batik decoration on wooden furniture and other utensils such as bookends, clocks and bowls in the Amsterdam School style. The decorations were usually executed in the colors red, yellow and black.
