Theo Molkenboer (1871-1920), important, early work of art, mirror with carved wooden frame, richly decorated with abstracted peacock motifs and the saying 'Schijn Bedriegt', (Appearance is Deceptive). The frame is signed on the front with the artist's monogram. This monogram has been added as a decorative element. The back is signed with 'Th. Molkenboer, February 23, 1893 Amsterdam'. From 1901 to 1904, Molkenboer was artistic director at the Faience and Tile Factory Holland in Utrecht.
