Multiple with bronze glaze by Jan van der Vaart. This high model has the characteristic style of Van der Vaart with its geometric angular shape. The design is from 1971 and is manufactured in both stoneware and porcelain in the colours black and white. The ceramic version is also manufactured with a bronze glaze, such as this vase. On the bottom it is signed 'VdVaart', '76' and a wheel. Jan van der Vaart belongs to the first generation of ceramic artists that revived the practice of ceramics in the Netherlands in the 1950s. He introduced a new vision on form and colour, based on the Bauhaus tradition. When he gets appointed as head teacher of ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, his influence on the development of Dutch ceramics is easy to trace. Around fifteen years later his work is internationally acknowledged.
