This light gray glazed porcelain vase was made by Geert Lap in 1980. The vase has clean white edges and is signed with "Lap" on the bottom. This vase is made in his own workshop. Geert Lap (1951-2017) was a Dutch ceramist, known for his minimalist approach. Lap's work is characterized by an apparent simplicity and perfect craftsmanship. His ceramics have a timeless quality. With each piece he made, Lap tried to get closer to the essence of the cast. A comparable vase by Geert Lap is depicted in the exhibition catalog Mieke G. Spruit-Ledeboer and Maarten van Thiel, 'The Contemporary Ceramics for Use in the Netherlands and its Development in the 20th Century', 1981.
