Firma Jb. Vet & Co.

The Netherlands

The pottery Firma Jb. Vet & Co. was founded by the brothers Vet in Purmerend in 1903. Klaas Vet had previously worked as a modeller at pottery factory De Distel in Amsterdam and Jacob Vet had been a pottery painter at Firma Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes & Co. Among the employees of Firma Jb. Vet & Co. were several former colleagues, including the painter J.W. Stapper from Firma Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes & Co. and D. Straus from De Distel. The decorations that Firma Jb. Vet & Co. used were partly inspired by the earthenware of N.V. Haagsche Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg. Recognizable for the products of Firma Jb. Vet & Co. is the use of dark blue and ocher yellow, as well as a decoration style consisting of a matt glaze in combination with a floral-linear decor in pastel colours.
