This colourful lamp, 'Tahiti', is designed by the Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) in 1981. The lamp is typical for the Memphis group, which Sottsass founded in 1981. This group of designers opposed the strict rules of modernism and used bright colors and patterns, inspired by pop art. This colorful enameled metal lamp in the shape of a duck has a rotating head. The laminated plateau on which the duck stands is decorated with the well-known black-and-white 'bacteria' pattern of Sottsass.
