Contemporary and deeply rooted in the Japanese decorative arts tradition, Kyohei Fujita made monumental glass forms. The striking use of color and contrasting metallic inclusions relate this piece to the lacquer boxes, or casuri bako, that are part of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, yet the abstract pattern and simple form are unmistakably modern.
