Beautiful earthenware wall plate with floral motive and lustre glaze designed by Leon Senf (1860 - 1940) in 1929. Signed on the back with the factory mark, his signature and '1929'. The artist became head of the painters department of de Porceleyne Fles in 1884. He is best known for designing 'Nieuw-Delfts' earthenware, inspired by Persian pottery, of which this wall plate is a good example. For the Peace Palace in The Hague, Senf designed extraordinary ceramic wall panels in a similar style with a decoration of peacocks.
