Koloman Moser (1868-1918) was a extremely productive artist and designer who was co-founder of the Siebener Club, the Viennese Secession and the Wiener Werkstätte. His early work shows in particular abstract and naturalistic motifs that are in line with the Vienna Secession and Art Deco. In his later work, from about 1901 onwards, more geometric patterns begin to emerge in his work, inspired by Egyptian and Assyrian art.
