Beautiful black-stained oak bookcase or music cabinet with filigree-cut Amsterdam School motifs by designer Hildo Krop (1884-1970). This piece is derived from the atelier of Hildo Krop himself. Hildo Krop was one of the most important designers of Amsterdam School furniture. The Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam have several pieces of Amsterdam School furniture by Hildo Krop in their collection. Krop was also the 'city sculptor' of Amsterdam, who designed and sculpted many of the Amsterdam School statues in the Dutch capital, which can be seen, among others, on interbellum buildings and bridges.
