Beautiful polychromed wooden consoles by Dutch sculptor Hildo Krop (1884-1970). The wooden consoles are carved with a squirrel and a pelican and partly painted with gold, red and blue paint. These ornaments have similarities with the ceramics Hildo Krop made voor Dutch pottery factory ESKAF in the 1920s and with the sculptures of the Dutch pavilion in Paris (1924/25) by his hand. Hildo Krop was one of the most important designers of Amsterdam School furniture. The Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam have several pieces of Amsterdam School furniture by Hildo Krop in their collection. Hildo Krop was also the 'city sculptor' of Amsterdam, who designed and sculpted many of the Amsterdam School statues in the Dutch capital, which can be seen, among others, on interbellum buildings and bridges.
