This elegant chromed iron chair is designed by Paul Schuitema and manufactured by the firm Dekker, also known as d3. Modernist Paul Schuitema (1897-1973) was a photographer, filmer and graphic and industrial designer. As a teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, he actively spread the Bauhaus ideas. In 1932 Schuitema was co-founder of furniture factory d3, manufacturer of tubular steel furniture. In the same year, d3 began producing this cantilever chair. The rare chair is characterized by its comfortable seat. This chair is mentioned in the following publications: Yvonne Brentjes, Volmaakt Verchroomd. D3 en het avant-garde stalenbuismeubel in Nederland, 2007, p. 165. Thomas Heijnen, 'd3. Een hoogtepunt in moderne stalenbuismeubelen' in: Art Deco Magazine, no. 14, Winter (2016-2017), pp. 37-40.
