Laura Diaz de Santillana

Italy

Laura Diaz de Santillana (1955) is a grandchild of Paolo Venini, who was a prominent glass manufacturer on the Island of Murano in Venice. She worked and learned the craft in her grandfather’s factory. However, Diaz de Santillana did not aspire to become a designer, as is common for glassblowers, but wanted to become an artist. Her works are minimalistic and abstract, her glass sculptures no longer serving any utility. They become works of art in their own right.
