August Falise

The Netherlands 1875 - 1936

A.F.H. Falise (1875-1936) was the son of a terracotta manufacturer in Wageningen. In Amsterdam he studied at the Rijkschool voor Kunstnijverheid and the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten. Falise specialized in medallion making before he started sculpting, drawing and modelling. In the years that followed, he made independent work, as well as designs for Antheunis in The Hague and ceramic sculpture designs for Haga. In 1920 he began to work in commission of his church.
